Rolex

Yes, it's a cliché... but it is true, everyone knows this brand, and it is not for bad reasons! Rolex watches have gained international fame for introducing sophisticated gold (usually 14 and 18 carat) and stainless-steel materials into their constitution, acquiring the famous golden color commonly associated with the brand. As it could not fail to be, most Rolex watches use, on their face, a glass coated by one of the toughest materials in the world, sapphire, which gives it an above average durability (See here more about this gemstone.

To get a small taste of the value of this brand, the most expensive Rolex in history was sold very recently in 2017 for about $18 million.

Omega

At Leilão Justo we are sure you have heard of this brand... If not, at least you've seen a well-known character wear her watch. That's right, it's used and sponsored by England's most famous and deadly agent, James Bond or, if we wish, Agent 007!

Marked by its irreverence, the first model of the brand, named "The Labrador", contained numerous technological advances for the time it was launched (1885), in addition to time measurement results. The brand's eye-catching and rare wristwatch, titled "Elvis Presley Tiffany & Co. 1960" was sold at auction in 2018 for about $2 million.

Fun-off: Omega holds the unrivalled title of being the first watch to be taken and worn on the moon, thanks to Buzz Aldrin, who wore the "Speed master" on one of his space expeditions.

Skipper

Following our list, founded in 1884, we find Breitling. It is especially known for being the favorite watch brand of civilian or military airline pilots. Despite this, this is not the current targeting of the brand and its watches are known all over the world for their complexity, high quality, luxury and price. Now let's see... the most expensive watch of the brand was sold for about 300,000 dollars and curiously it is not a wristwatch, but rather a small pocket watch.

Fun time: Breitling works side by side with the luxury Bentley car brand and manufactures watches for it, called Breitling for Bentley Motors.

Cartier

Unfortunately, we are coming to an end, but we cannot help but refer to Cartier! This brand, unlike the previous ones, did not start its activity to devote itself only to the manufacture of watches. On the contrary, Cartier has a historical bond dating back to the time of King Edward VII of the United Kingdom (1910), when he referred to the company as "the jeweler of kings and the king of jewelers". The brand's most expensive watch sold for about $2.75 million, while the most valuable piece of jewelry sold for about $27.5 million.

Curiosity: Cartier was one of the pioneers in the invention of the wristwatch.
